Every feature you need.
Nothing you don't.

Built from scratch by a cantor who got tired of watching students struggle with tools that hadn't changed in 30 years.

Hear it. See it. Sing it.

No more guesswork. Animated sound maps show you exactly where every note lands on every syllable before you ever sing a note.

Trope on the Go app showing a Hebrew word practice card with sound map — colored circles indicate pitch and melody contour for the trope

Know if you're getting it right.

Record & Compare shows your pitch against the model in real time — no guessing, no waiting for your next lesson.

Trope on the Go Record and Compare feature showing cantor's pitch in green and user's recorded pitch in blue on an interactive graph

Start where you are. Go as far as you want.

Start with the most frequent tropes and learn the entire system or just pick the ones you need for your reading.

Trope on the Go stage picker showing four learning levels — Most Frequent, Commonly Used, Occasional, and Rare — each listing the tropes included

Practice on the real text

Side-by-side scroll and trope columns let you see every word and phrase without ever leaving the practice card.

Trope on the Go tikkun view showing Torah portion Lech Lecha in 2-column format with unvoweled text on the left and voweled text with trope on the right

Flashcards make it stick.

A smart review deck that knows which tropes you need more practice on — with sound maps built right into every card.

Trope on the Go flashcard system showing a melody map with trope marks, Hebrew text, and transliteration — with Hard, Medium and Easy self-rating buttons to track mastery

Let's make it a game.

Matching, dictation, sorting and catching games make learning trope sounds, sequences and shapes fun and surprisingly effective.

Trope catching game showing trope symbols inside floating bubbles — a timed game where players hear tropes and then try to maximize their score by clicking on the correct ones

Practice the right way
in four steps.

No music theory required. No sheet music. Just you, your voice, and the actual words of the Torah.

1
Voice Setup
Start by singing "Happy Birthday" and then the app will know
to play the best notes for you to chant comfortably.
2
Set your reading
Select your specific Torah and/or Haftarah reading
or skip it and practice the full system from our built-in word and phrase bank.
3
Learn the sounds
All trope sounds are organized by frequency.
Start with the most frequent and work your way down.
4
Practice words
As you practice each trope sound, you can jump straight to words that use that trope to reinforce what you've just learned.
Then move to sequences, and you're on your way!

Simple, transparent,
sustainable.

No ads. No data selling. No free tier that expires. Just a fair price for a tool built to last.

Everything you
want to know.

Founding members are the first subscribers — people who joined before the public launch. The founding member rate ($7.99/month or $79.99/year) is locked for life as long as your subscription stays active. It will include ALL features and upgrades the app will ever have, and will never increase, regardless of what the standard price becomes after August 15.
You'll receive an email confirmation, and when the app launches you'll get direct access to choose your plan, start your free trial, or claim the founding member rate while it is available.
No. The 7-day free trial gives you full access to all tropes within either Torah or Haftarah with no payment information required. At the end of the trial, you can choose to subscribe — and if you're still in the founding member window, you'll lock in the founding member rate.
The app launches with Ashkenazic cantillation for Torah and Haftarah. Additional traditions (Sephardic, Mizrahi, and seasonal readings including High Holy Days, Three Festivals, and more) as well as the ability to choose or add regional and local variants are planned as post-launch additions.
Yes. We built this app with people like you in mind. Not everyone who wants to learn Biblical chant has a bar mitzvah or other special occasion coming up. That's why we included a library of over 4000 common words and phrases that you can use to jumpstart your learning. If and when you're ready to prepare a public reading, just select your desired reading in the app, and it will automatically present you with words and phrases drawn from your own reading.
Not at all. The app is designed for anyone who can hear and sing — no music theory required. The sound maps use color and visual cues (not sheet music notation), and pitch detection works by ear, not by reading notes.
While Trope on the Go is designed for learners at every level, including and especially total beginners, there are nuances that can still best be learned from a trained professional or mentor. This app is meant to help streamline and speed up your learning, not to replace the guidance and care of a trusted teacher.
It's a web app that works on any device — phone, tablet, or desktop — without downloading anything from an app store. You can add it to your home screen for a native-app feel. Native iOS and Android apps are planned for a future release.
Trope on the Go™ was built by a cantor with years of experience teaching Biblical cantillation. The app reflects the pedagogy, the domain expertise, and the frustration of watching students struggle with tools that hadn't improved in decades, or even centuries! Every design decision comes from real teaching experience.
Yes — institutional licensing for congregations, day schools, and cantorial programs is in development. If you're interested in group access for your organization, please reach out through the waitlist form and mention your institution.
